Welcome back to Kent Ridge campus, NUS Law!

The Faculty officially relocated from Bukit Timah to the Kent Ridge campus this Academic Year, moving over all teaching, student life and administrative activities. The shift brings NUS Law closer to the wider NUS community, enabling new opportunities for interdisciplinary learning and deeper immersion in campus life.  

Timeline

  • 1956 – The Department of Law was established at the University of Malaya’s Bukit Timah campus, with the first students admitted the following year
  • 1981 – Law moved to the Kent Ridge campus following the merger of the University of Singapore and Nanyang University to form NUS
  • 2006 – Law returned to the Bukit Timah campus after the site was restored to NUS
  • 2025 – Law moved to University Town at the Kent Ridge campus
Built in 1928 after an Empire-wide competition, the Bukit Timah campus has been home to Raffles College, the University of Malaya, the University of Singapore, the National Institute of Education, Singapore Management University and the National University of Singapore. The first law students were admitted to the Bukit Timah campus in 1957. Among them are former Chief Justice Chan Sek Keong ’61, former ambassador to the United Nations Tommy Koh ’61, Emeritus Professor Koh Kheng Lian ’61, and former Dean Thio Su Mien ’61.
NUS Law is now located at 20 College Avenue West in University Town, right in the heart of campus life.
