Who says engineers only know how to build structures? We certainly know how to build lasting friendships and have a great time too!
On 9 October 2026, close to 20 NUS Civil Engineering graduates from the Class of 2016 came together for a memorable 10-year reunion dinner, proving that even a decade later, our university friendships remain as strong as ever!
The evening was filled with laughter, lively conversations and nostalgic memories of our NUS days. From career journeys and life milestones to family updates and everything in between, there was certainly no shortage of stories to share! Ten years on, some things may have changed, but the camaraderie and sense of humour remained wonderfully familiar.
Of course, no great reunion is complete without a little unexpected twist! A last-minute change of plans saw our original pizza, darts and bar venue replaced by a cosy café. Darts and pizzas were out, but the good company and lively atmosphere more than made up for it! The unexpected switch turned out to be the perfect setting for an evening of conversations, laughter and reconnecting.
We came together as former coursemates, reconnected as old friends, and left with big smiles and wonderful memories. We were also delighted to have Dr Chew Soon Hoe, Deputy Head (External Relations and Development) of the Department, join us for the reunion, providing a wonderful opportunity to reconnect and strengthen the ties between our alumni community and the Department.
Special thanks to Miss Yow See Wei for bringing everyone together and personally reaching out to our classmates, Mr Nee Yihan for designing the event poster and registration form, Mr Cuthbert Yeo for suggesting the dining venue, and Dr Chew for taking the time to join us for this special occasion.
Here’s to stronger bonds, more laughter and the next reunion — hopefully before another 10 years!
