Richard Tan (MPM ’13) and Nestor Precioso (Science ’06, MOT ’11), immediate past chairperson and vice-chairperson, respectively, of the NUS Alumni Network Manila, represented the local chapter at the recent Networking Reception in Manila organised by the NUS Centre for Future-ready Graduates as part of their Global Industry Insights (GII) programme. The event was held at Seltsam Restobar in Legaspi Village, Makati.
The Global Industry Insights (GII) is an elective course participated in by 36 NUS undergraduate students and designed to provide immersive exposure to emerging economies in Asia. The week-long study trips to regions such as ASEAN, China, and India help participants gain firsthand knowledge of regional business models and market dynamics through company visits, practitioner-led seminars, and networking sessions with local alumni and employers. By bridging academic theory with international workplace realities, the course helps students develop a global mindset and identify multidisciplinary career pathways in a competitive global market.
The Networking Reception was the first event in the five-day GII program in Manila from 10–16 May 2026. It aimed to connect participating NUS students with a diverse group of business and HR executives from various companies and industries in the Philippines, including valued NUS partners, to foster meaningful connections that could lead to future partnerships, internships, or career opportunities.
As part of its continuing responsibilities to maintain regular communications with the NUS Office of Alumni Relations and relevant NUS Units, the Manila chapter will continue to engender support and propagate the good name of NUS in the local community.
