Tell us the story of how you met.<\/strong><\/p>

We first knew about each other through a mutual friend, who plotted ways for us to meet. We finally met for the first time in November 2017 at that mutual friend\u2019s surprise 21st birthday party!<\/p>

What were your first impressions?<\/strong><\/p>

Jun Wei<\/em>: I thought she was really awkward; she kept giving one-word replies and conversation enders when I tried to have a conversation with her.<\/p>

Claira<\/em>: It was a little weird, considering I \u201cknew\u201d him through our mutual friend who had shared about him with me. I felt it was a bit strange to ask him questions that I already knew the answers to, but I also didn\u2019t know how else to continue the conversation. So, my first impression of him was not much, to be honest; [I thought he was] just a social butterfly who was running everywhere talking to everyone else.<\/p>

Tell us about your first date.<\/strong><\/p>

Despite the challenges from our first meeting, we still ended up texting and meeting up as friends before acknowledging that we had feelings for each other. Our first official date was visiting the S.E.A. Aquarium, then watching the movie Encanto!<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

How did you know your partner was the one?<\/strong><\/p>

We talked a lot about our values and our future, and the stars aligned – we agreed and then started working towards a common goal. It was nice that our individual aspirations were similar, and we were on the same page when it came to discussions surrounding our career paths, marriage plans and family planning.<\/p>

What do you love about your partner?<\/strong><\/p>

Jun Wei<\/em>: She always finds the best deals and discounts, so we end up saving a lot of money!<\/p>

Claira<\/em>: He is super smart and fast, especially at math-ing! He\u2019s great at computing my deals and discounts quickly.<\/p>

Do you have any memories of NUS as a couple?<\/strong><\/p>

So many! We have fond memories of taking classes together, spending time in Hon Sui Sen Memorial Library studying, or in group project meetings. We also frequently travelled to Prince George’s Park to eat their mala!<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

After an awkward start, Tan Jun Wei (Business ’20) and Claira Goh (Business ’20) found their groove.
